Like many people, I've given up on the print form of the newspaper. (Except we still get the Sunday paper for the grocery coupons) Everything is available pretty much for free online, and with live chats and comment sections, online might be better. (Definitely more entertaining)
Even better, last year I signed up for the BizTimes.com Daily Newsletter. Every day over the lunch hour I get the latest news in a quick headline form with a link to the full story. Here is the link if you're interested in signing up for the free newsletter:

There is also a daily blog included in the newsletter. Today's was particularly interesting as it included quotes from area business leaders about what they learned from what is being called "The Great Recession."
Here is a link to the blog post:

Some thoughts on the quotes provided:
Regarding "Better productivity for businesses"--Boy are they ever! In my job orders, clients are requesting for employees that are flexible and can complete more than one role like sales AND marketing, design AND manufacturing, and Accounts Receivable AND Payable.
Regarding "Laying off older workers and keeping people with cheaper salaries" --While this may be happening, I've talked to many candidates that have or would be comfortable continuing with their current companies in a consultant or contract role.
Regarding "Involving employees with finding ways to cut costs"--I've read this before, that employees know that times are tight and are willing to offer ideas and make sacrificies to keep their jobs.
What did you or your organization learn from the downturn? Please send your thoughts to me and I'll post in an upcoming newsletter.
As always, thanks for reading!
