I'm so tired of hearing about how Milwaukee is a small market.
Yes, I know we'll never be a Boston or New York, but we have a relatively new stadium and a crazy supportive fan base. I think off the record even Brewers management would say that 3 million fans for two straight seasons with only one playoff win exceeded their expectations.
That's why I just don't buy the small market thing when it is used as an excuse to not be able to re-sign Prince Fielder.
Maybe its overly optimistic, but with a group effort through management, fans, and media, we can amp up the coverage and at the very least get an idea of how realistic it is to have the Prince stick around long-term.
Questions to ask to Prince and the Brewers every chance we get between now and the trade deadline of 2011.
1) What are Fielder's baseline expectations for salary? (5 year deal, more? Play the market?)
2) What type of revenue do the Brewers need to bring in to be able to afford Prince?
3) Is Scott Boras/Fielder determined to play in the AL?
4) What percentage of the Brewers overall salaryis the team comfortable paying Fielder?
5) What other talent would Prince like to have around him? (Don't laugh, its going to keep LeBron in Cleveland)
